The process of casting has been around for at least 6,000 years, and while ancient techniques differ greatly from modern ones, the basics are the same. Bars created via this method are also referred to as "molded" or even "poured". No two poured bars are the same because the pouring process often creates abnormalities and blemishes that are unique to those bars. Because this process is so quick and cheap for the manufacturer, they are able to pass those savings onto the customer, which is why these bars are often available for close to spot price.

Digital Bullion makes sure only authenticated gold is stored and provided to gold purchasers. In doing so, all physical gold goes through the below stringent test:
Density Testing
Different metal has different density/mass and it is hard to replicate. Therefore a density test will help identify most precious metal.
Ultrasonic Testing
Density test alone will not be able to 100% identify certain composite in a replicated metal. However, metals with similar density do not have similar ultrasonic properties. An ultrasonic test measures the thickness of metal by identifying the time it takes for an ultrasonic sound wave to travel through the metal. The speed of the sound wave travelling through gold takes 3240 metres per second.
X-Ray Testing
X-ray testing helps detect surface composite of metal by emitting a broad spectrum of x-rays on the metal. This test is used to detect surface gold plated metals.
